Completion of Headfort Painting Works

22 May 2009

The Painting and Decoration of the Eating Parlour at Headfort House, Kells, County Meath has been one of the most prestigious, challenging and ultimatley rewarding projects that Corlin have been involved with. these works have now been completed. Working very closely with the Headfort Trust, Consarc, VB Evans and Richard Ireland the project was brought to a very successful conclusion.

Richard Ireland carried out the extensive research for such a detailed restoration of this beautiful room in line with the original 18th Century Plans and he was the Curator overseeing the quality of the Painting works. Our Foreman Liam Doherty and Richard worked very well together and we are delighted that the very high demands for quality workmanship were met and we thank Richard for all his guidance and assistance.

“Extensive investigation of the 18th Century Robert Adam decorative scheme in the Eating Parlour at Headfort House revealed a uniquely complex and unusually intricate treatment.  Corlin stepped up to the momentous challenge of reinstating the scheme working closely under the guidance of Richard Ireland who had undertaken the research.  Acquitting themselves with distinction, the decorative team have  undoubtedly set a new bench mark in Ireland for this standard and type of work necessitating an unparalleled degree of sign-written type picking out of the richly painted decorative relief.” Richard Ireland FRSA May 2009
